How do I set up my Taterpot Slim or Shorty Planter? Remove the outer wrapper and all contents from inside the Taterpot Planter. You will find a peat puck and herb seeds inside. How do I grow herbs in my Taterpot?Place the peat puck inside the planter and add warm water halfway up the planter bowl. Let it sit five minutes to soften the dried peat. Take a fork and break up the peat puck. Let it sit another five minutes to soften further, stir the peat soil, and add your seeds according to package directions. The magic of the Taterpot is the magic of mother nature. There is nothing “alive” or “automatic” about the Taterpot. The Taterpot is just a clever planter for starting herb seeds. It simply contains seeds and a dried potting mixture. How long does it take to grow? In general, seeds will germinate and sprout within 3-4 weeks. Bear in mind that herb seeds have different germination times. Keep your Taterpot moist and warm during that time and keep the planter in sunlight. What do I do if my Taterpot is not growing? Just like in nature many factors play into seeds successfully germinating. At first, the two most important factors are warmth and water. It is very important that your Taterpot is placed in an environment with a temperature of 60 degrees or warmer (actually warmer is better, ideally 70 to 80 degrees is OK). Warmth triggers the seeds to start to germinate as if it is spring. If your Taterpot dries out, then the delicate germination process may be disrupted. How much Sunlight does my Taterpot need? Once the seedling appears above the soil’s surface, your Taterpot should receive two to four hours of good sunlight each day. Before the seedling appears, it is not necessary to have full sunlight. How much water does my Taterpot need? The thirsty Taterpot drinks a lot. Water it every day if the peat soil is dry to the touch. Do not drown the Tater, however! How long can my Taterpot last? Your Taterpot will grow for 2 to 4 months (depending on conditions), after that it is recommended that your herbs be transplanted to the ground or a larger pot. You can reuse the Taterpot for growing or keep it around the kitchen as a clever votive or sundries holder. Everything has been done to ensure your success in growing your Taterpot— the product is manufactured to the highest standards using superior seeds and peat mixture. But the product is not guaranteed to grow. If it does not work at first, put some of the extra seeds into the planter and give it another try. You can grow any seed type for grass or herbs in your Taterpot Planter! Can I order Taterpot in bulk for a special event?
